How do I setup and print my issue as a Docx file?

Modified on Thu, 18 Jul at 1:22 PM

Qooling allows you to setup your own print layout in a Docx file and to print single reports in this format. You will need to set this up for each issue type that you have configured. The first time you set it up for one issue with issue type = customer complaint for example, then all other issues in your list containing the issue type "customer complaint" will also automatically get the same DocX setup and printing in this format will be available for them as well.

How to setup DocX print

1. Open an issue in your list and look for the button with three dots (...) >> click on print

2. Navigate to the DOCX tab and Download the template. The template contains all data fields, both standard and custom fields that have been configured.

3. Open the template in Word and copy the content to a new Word/Google doc file. IMPORTANT: do not edit and use the original template file. If you try to upload it back to Qooling, it won't work. So always copy the content from the template to a new document.

4. The content of the template is a raw dump of your data fields and it consists of two parts:

  • Data field name = Blue
  • Data field input (answer) = Red

5. In your new document, create a layout of the form that you prefer, for example use tables and add logo's

  • In the first column of the table copy the name of your data field (blue)
  • In the second column, copy the data field input with double brackets "{{data field name}}". (red)
  • IMPORTANT: Please pay attention to spacing and captions, they have to be precise as the way they are in Qooling.
  • Keep doing the same for each line until you copy-pasted all data fields.
  • Save your file
  • Here is an example:

6. When you finished your Docx file, upload it back at the same place where you downloaded the DocX template.

How to print your issue/report as a DocX file

1. Open the issue >> ... button >> print >> DOCX tab

2. You should now see your document in the pop-up, meaning that for this particular form, you have an active DocX print document. Click on print to download your DocX file of your issue/report.

3. Open the file in Word/Google docs and notice that the  document has been filled with the data from the issue originating from Qooling application, even the image files. Compare it with the screenshot made in step 1 of the setup.

You have now successfully configured and printed a DocX for your issue.
